We are excited to announce that starting next week children who ride the yellow school buses will once a week experience the joys and reap the benefits of walking to school in an effort to increase student health, raise academic achievement, build community, and foster environmental awareness. Other Minneapolis Schools have started this program to much success! (click to get to volunteer sign up link)
Background checks — Minneapolis Public Schools now require all parent volunteers going on school field trips to submit a Criminal Background Check form by mail, to the district along with a $5 fee.

Family Volunteers are needed to help with the Kenwood School Garden this summer. If your family would like to take a shift of watering, weeding and harvesting, please contact Kenwood parents Angie Erdrich at email@example.com. Usually two families per week are needed to help out. Watering is welcome twice per day during the super hot weather. Donations are also needed for the garden: vegetables and herb seedling, decorative fencing, bags of organic soil or compost and items for climbing plants like shepard's poles would be great. Thank you for supporting our Kenwood Garden.
School picture retake day is Thursday, November 17th. Students can have retakes done or take pictures if they were absent for the October Picture Day.
Remember to bring in your original packet of photos to turn back in.
We are so lucky to be a part of a school community where over 350 parents volunteer every year — in a school of 461 students! Participating in school events such as Family Activity Night and the Kenwood Carnival has become much easier this year, thanks to the online software program we are using called sign up genius. When you receive an e-mail about a volunteer opportunity from firstname.lastname@example.org, you will be able to click on a link to a volunteer sign-up sheet via Sign Up Genius. There you can select a volunteer committment and receive a reminder e-mail two days before the event. If you haven't seen one of these e-mails yet, please contact Lori Smith at email@example.com to add your e-mail to our volunteer list. As, always, thank you for everything you do for our thriving Kenwood School community!
