Field trips,Residencies, Special Guests and other Events

Barn Dance Residency:  Students will learn root dancing during school and the residency will culminate at Family Involvement Night, on Nov. 17, with an all school Barn Dance.  We will also have a free spaghetti dinner and Book Fair.  Check out the Courier for more details.

Junior Achievement: Laura Studer and Noah Wilson m(Kenwood Alumni) will be back this year in December and January volunteering their time to teach the second grade JA curriculum.

Midwest Food Connection: Sponsored by The COOP

Minneapolis Institute of Art:  We will participate in Art Adventures which is taught by our own parents here at Kenwood. We will study artifacts at school and then go to the MIA to actualy see the artifacts.

Taiko:  This is a Japanese form of drumming.  We will have Ellen     , as our sensai (teacher) during this residency.  All second graders will have instruction beginning in March with a performance to conclude this residency.  It will be an unbelievable performance for all on May 4, 2017.  This will be at 8:00am in the gym.

Minnesota Center for Art Design (MCAD):  All the second grade classrooms will be having 3-4 art students come and spend several hours observing our class on Nov. 7.  We will also have time to help olan an art lesson related to our unit on insects.
