Welcome Ms. Heidi Johnson

Heidi Johnson comes to Kenwood Elementary from Jefferson Community School, where she has served as the Assistant Principal since 2015.  She works to ensure that every child realizes their full potential in a rigorous and joyful learning community.  She believes that when the school, families, and community partners team together to spark children's curiosity and creativity, they grow up to become global citizens who participate and lead with responsibility, compassion and innovation.

Heidi has twenty-four years of professional experience in education and human rights law, and has taught in Oakland, Hungary, China, and Minneapolis.  She is a product of the St. Paul, Duluth, and eastern North Carolina public schools.  She graduated from Bates College in 1993, and the University of Minnesota Law School in 2000.  She completed graduate coursework in international education through SUNY Buffalo, and received her K-12 administrative license from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Heidi has a son and a daughter, ages fourteen and eight, and is married to Neil, a Chinese language teacher at St. Paul Academy.  She's a modern dancer and enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time in the wilderness with her family.
