Kenwood Community School's culture of arts, academics, diversity and parent involvement sets us apart from other schools. We educate both the head and the heart. Activities for Kids (and adults)

Click the link above for a list of websites and activities you can do with kids, or they can do on their own.  These are not required, just things to help kids during the school closure.  An example of a daily schedule is also included - modify to fit your family!

MPS Meal Sites

MPS will provide meals to students at 50 locations around the city while schools are closed due to COVD-19.  These breakfast and lunch meals are for school-aged children and youth 18 years and under.  Please click the link for locations.

*MPS will be transitioning from daily to weekly food pick-ups the week of Spring Break, March 30 – April 3. Our 20 original food pick-up sites will continue daily meal picks AND start their new weekly schedule. Please note: Friday, April 3, will be the last day for daily food pick-up.

The Kenwood School Plant Sale

Students at Kenwood School will be selling plants as a part of a PAY-IT-FORWARD campaign to raise funds for next year's trip to Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center. Any extra proceeds will go to the Kenwood PTA.  Click the link for information about our grower or to download a plant sale form.  With school closures happening, this year's sale will be preorders only.  The deadline to turn in your preorder forms is Friday, April 10th. Plants will be available for pick up on Friday, May 15th. Thank you for your support!

Kenwood DNR Certified School Forest

On Friday, May 24th, we had our official ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate our recently appointed Department of Natural Resources Kenwood Community School Forest!  Kenwood proudly becomes the fifth Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Minneapolis Public School partnership site. This was created for students to experience and learn about nature, right in our neighborhood.

Kenwood School Improvement Plan

All schools are required to have a school improvemnt plan (SIP).  While we will continue to have high standards in all acadmeic areas, the SIP helps to focus instruction in areas that the staff determines needs improvement.  These plans are created by individual schools after looking at insturctional data.  

Family Activity/Vacation Form

If you plan on taking your child out of school for a vacation or activity, please fill out the Family Activity/Vacation Form at least 10 school days prior to the first absence.

Background Check Forms

Minneapolis Public Schools require all volunteers going on field trips to submit a background check.  Online forms are available by clicking the above link.
