Ms. Wilcox Freeburg

Meet Ms. Wilcox Freeburg!

I have been a public school music teacher since 2007. I started my career in White Bear Lake, MN,  and then taught secondary and general music around the country in Arkansas, Massachusetts, and Washington state. Two years ago I returned to Minnesota and taught middle school choir and world drumming in Oakdale, Minnesota. I am excited to be joining Minneapolis Public Schools! I have a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Luther College. I have completed graduate courses in World Drumming and Level 1 Orff Certification.

I am enthusiastic about community music and arts. I believe that everyone can and should be involved in some kind of music making in their lives and community. Life-long music making, basic music literacy, and equitable, sustainable teaching practices are my main passions for my career.  I am an active choral singer and handbell musician in the area. My husband, Eric, has a Ph. D. in Environmental Science and currently works as a web developer for a local start-up company. I have a daughter, Elliot, who is three years old, a dog, Eilidh, and a cat, Imogen. Outside of music making, I enjoy cooking, puzzling, swing dancing, yoga, cycling, hiking, and just being outdoors.
