Teacher Sandy
Hi, I am so excited to be at Kenwood. My name is Sandy Spray-Kerr and students may call me Teacher Sandy.
This year marks my 31st year of teaching with most of my time teaching students with special needs. I have been in Minneapolis the past eight years and previously worked in the district over 20 years ago in Minneapolis working for five years before taking time off to be with my two children. My children are now 22 and 24. I have taught grades K-12 with a fondness for elementary students.
I grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa where I received a bachelor’s degree in elementary teaching from the University of Northern Iowa. I also swam competitively while attending college. Later I received two degrees from Minnesota State Mankato, a master's in special education and education specialist degree in leadership. I also have a master's degree in leadership from Concordia University. I believe in lifelong learning for myself and finding what works for students to thrive and grow in their own learning.
My special getaway is my cabin in Brimson, Minnesota which is 30 minutes from Two Harbors. I love to hike, fish, swim and explore Northern Minnesota. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family. I am married with two grown children. I also enjoy time with my dog Daisy, crafting, sewing and upcycling items.
