Welcome to room 150!

Hi, my name is Rebecca Kidder and I am so excited to be your first grade teacher this year! While this is my first year at Kenwood, I have been working in Minneapolis Public Schools since 2016. Before I got my teaching license, I worked as both a special education para and a tutor with the Minnesota Reading Corps! I am thrilled to join the Kenwood family this year.

I received my master's in elementary education from the University of Minnesota this past May. I also have bachelors' degrees in environmental studies and Hispanic studies from Lewis & Clark College, where I graduated in 2016.

I live just a few blocks from Kenwood with my sister, three cats, and two leopard geckos. When I'm not caring for our menagerie, I love to paint, play ukulele, learn new board games, and go canoeing and camping.

First grade is a magical time filled with learning, growth, and lots of fun! First graders are busy learning lots of math, literacy, science, social studies, and social skills, and their enthusiasm towards learning is often contagious. I believe in working closely with both students and families to create the best education possible for every kid!

Please feel free to reach out to me by email at rebecca.kidder@mpls.k12.mn.us, and I will get back to you as soon as I can. I am so excited to spend this year together!
